Sex and the City, Casting Call in NYC

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Hey, all you ladies who moved to New York City seeking a Sex and the City life but instead found yourself living in a seventh-floor walk-up studio closet with mice and a part-time job at Starbucks and no money for brunch or shoes: Now's your chance to stand in the general vicinity of your dream. Producers of the movie sequel are holding an open casting call for extras. Mark your calendar for Aug. 4 if you look like any of the following: "international types," professional soccer players, fashion models, urban club goers, gays and lesbians, celebrity types, upscale socialites.

Robert Isabell Passes Away at 57???
It's Stress. I tell you!
I cannot believe it...

Robert Isabell, the famous society event planner and florist, died this week at his home in Greenwich Village, New York, of a heart attack. Isabell began his career assisting with parties at Studio 54 in the late 1970s and became the most popular event planner in New York, arranging the funeral of Jackie Onassis and weddings of the likes of Caroline Kennedy, Georgina Chapman, and Aerin Lauder. He also planned Marie-Chantal Miller’s extravagant 1995 London wedding to Prince Pavlos of Greece, which was reported to have cost $8million. Anna Wintour, who worked on Costume Institute Gala events with Isabell called him “the king of the event world”.

I discovered these fab books at Anthropologie
Taschen's New York: Hotels, Restaurants & Shops
Have a Peek Inside

Here

Get the most out of New York
In New York, it's all about who you know. And now you're connected.
Angelika Taschen knows New York. She's been behind the velvet ropes, explored the secret, unmarked restaurants and beloved neighborhood delis, scoured Soho, Nolita and Tribeca's stylish stores, and scoped out hotels uptown and downtown, from sleek and chic to hidden charms. She provides an all-access pass to parts of New York even most locals don't know. Dictionary-style cutout tabs make it easy to flip through, and a pocket-sized map of Manhattan lists all the shops, hotels, and restaurants in the book. With this guide in hand, New York is yours for the taking.
